Some tips for car drivers
*Maximum speed is: 50 km/h in built up areas from 5:00 till 23:00 and 60 km/h between 23:00 and 5:00; 90 km/h outside built-up areas; 110 km/h on fast dual carriage roads and 130 km/h on motorways
*Driver and all the passengers in the car have to wear safety belts at all times
*It is prohibited to use a mobile telephone while driving
*All the vehicles have to be equipped with a fire extinguisher, a triangle and a first aid kit
*Between the 1st of November and the 1st of March it is compulsory to drive with the lights on also during the day
*Attention: The legal alcohol limit in blood is only 0,02% and it is an equivalent of only one glass of beer
*Children younger than 12 need to travel in a special children’s seat in the back seat of the car
*The majority of petrol stations located by the main roads and especially those in the large cities stay open 24 hours
*It is strongly advisable to leave vehicles only in secure parking garages
*Driving licence issued in another country (or an international driving licence) is valid on a Polish territory during the first 6 months from the arrival date
*When crossing the Polish border it is required to present a green card
*It is very important to pay good attention when going through a level crossing without barriers or without a guard
*The pedestrians are frequently walking along the road outside the built up areas
*A bus joining the traffic has priority
*Trams have always priority unless the signs indicate otherwise
*Radar checks are very frequent, especially on the outskirts of the city (when leaving or entering the city)
*Fines issued for speeding are between 50 and 500 PLZ (approx.15-135 Euros)
